Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Caring for a person with an acquired brain injury or a complex neurological condition requires not just clinical expertise and practical skill but also – and especially – a dedicated team of people who understand the issues that impact on the patient, their families and friends.

At the units managed by Ramsay Neurological Services in the UK, our aim is to maximise each individual’s ability, comfort and quality of life by:

  • Identifying and continually assessing their requirements
  • Providing the appropriate facilities, treatment and network of support to meet their physical, emotional, psychological and social needs.

We provide specialist, holistic care at all three of our homes in the UK, offering for some a placement for life and for others a slow stream rehabilitation pathway to regaining as much independence as possible.

Each home has been purpose built with facilities second to none, including specially equipped, individual, en-suite bedrooms; various communal and activity areas as well as physiotherapy gyms and multi-sensory rooms to aid recovery.

Nevertheless, it is the team of carers, clinicians and therapists who help to make each centre so special. Developing strong relationships and working closely as a team – as well as with families and friends – is key to success.

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). It is a brain injury that has occurred after birth. This may result in mild, moderate or severe impairment in one or more areas, including cognition, speech- language, communication, memory, attention and concentration, reasoning, abstract thinking, physical functions, psycho-social behaviour and information processing.

Symptoms are very similar to those caused by traumatic brain injury.

If you are affected by brain injury, come and see for yourself the difference we may make. We offer you superb facilities and professional therapy. We promise you a warm welcome and special care.
